What are the tips for a successful website?

1. Set your goals, define it very very clearly what you want to do with your site.
2. Idea counts first, setting up is another work.
3. When it can delivers what the visitors needs, the website is working correctly.
4. You can have product, getting it spread is “another work”.
5. Don’t be afraid to fail, most of the entrepeuner fails with countless ideas.
Social Networking Site, Community Site, Dating site, Classifieds Site…
I would say “use wordpress”. It is easy to use for beginner.

interesting content, updated regularly, easy to read, clean design, sensible seo… however, interesting updated content is the key factor, imho…
Design your website with users in mind not the SE. Always think & design in the user perspective. Your website should offer everything what the user needs. Your bounce rate should be minimal(or nil !). Just have a case study of successful websites, gather their design principles,marketing principles etc. Don’t start a website as such, do some research on targeted audience,market etc. Then launch your website.
Provide easy-to-use CONTENT. Without content, no website can succeed. Neither can websites with poor content.
Define your audience, then provide content for that audience. Anything less will result in poor performance.
That’s what I feel, not counted as tips but will help you a little.
